9 Months

Ok, more like 9 and 1/2 months but I wanted to wait until after his doctor's appointment to get his measurements.

- He weighs 19lbs and is 28 1/2" long, putting him in about the 50th percentile for both.  His head is 18 1/4" which I can only assume is off the charts since they don't get us a number for his head size anymore.

- He is still wearing his 9 month clothes and in size 3 diapers.

- Recently we went down to 3 bottles.  One in the morning, one around 1:30pm and one right before bed.  He has about 20oz total, sometimes more sometimes less.

- Eating is not an issue.  He loves to eat and loves to feed himself.  He has 3 'meals' now, which include a few finger foods.

- He loves graham crackers and likes puffs.

- In addition to the mama, dada & dog, Matt can get him to say Daddy.

- He still loves JJ best and will spontaneously crack up if the dog walks in the room.

- Scooting is still the main mode of transportation.  He likes to scoot on his butt or moves around a bit with his belly on the floor....mainly going backwards.  Someday he'll crawl...or just walk since he always wants to be standing.

- He got his first 2 teeth....teething is as terrible as everyone said it would be.

- Halleluiah we are on a semi regular schedule with 2 long naps!  No more cat naps.  He will take a morning nap at least an hour long and an afternoon nap 1 1/2-2 hours long.  I can now understand why nap time is sacred.

- Brown Bear is still the favorite book, followed closely by The Very Hungry Catapiller.

- He is always jabbering and now likes to blow spit bubbles and make fart noises.  He usually makes fart noises at appropriate times to let us know he is not impressed....which is kind of hilarious and kind of concerning for our future with this strong willed/nosy child.

- Everything and anything outside is still the greatest thing ever.  He had his first boat ride and liked it once he got used to it.  He also went swimming in the pool for the first time and decided he might like it.

- He still loves his jumper, but now he has a little piano thing that plays music and lights up when you hit the keys that is the bees knees.

- He has some baby exzema, but it shouldn't be an issue.

- We get kisses now.  He will pull your face to his and give you the sweetest (maybe grossest) open mouthed kiss/lick combo.  Yes, that harlot is already using tongue.

I know this isn't everything, but he is just growing by leaps and bounds and I just can't keep up.  We are so blessed to be able to watch and help shape his personality.  We love this little guy more and more everyday.

We saw a couple on their first trip to the pediatrician when we went for Zach's 9 month check up and that baby seemed so small already.  It was just 9 short months ago that was us and as they were panicking and flustered me and Matt just smiled at each other like old pros remembering those days like they were way in the past.  It's amazing how quickly it goes.....oh yeah, I'm totally going to cry all day on his 1st birthday ha!

So hot it's cold

The title of this post may or may not be from an old school rap song.....I can't place which one, but I'm pretty sure it sounds like something out of a classy 90's rap song. know you're getting old when you get giddy over appliances.  We bought a new fridge tonight and you would have thought we bought the hope diamond.  Considering we have been using a small fridge that squeaks when the door opens, the new fridge brings us into the 21st century.

So now I'm watching some trashy show on TV while the boys sleep, and I'm celebrating our new fridge with a glass of is good.

Tractor rides

Zach had his first tractor ride last week. We were taking a walk around the farm & grandpa just happened to be moving the smaller mowing tractor....for those not well versed in country goodness we do judge based on size but the small one was perfect. The start up noise startled him & he just stared at grandpa the whole time. Our little farmer in training...

Hillbilly deluxe

We officially have a hillbilly living with us....he has crazy hair, usually has food crusted in his face, often times is shirtless, and has only 2 teeth.

That's right, Zach has 2 teeth through! Last weekend was pretty awful with those teeth working through, but we survived and he is looking hillbilly deluxe with his 2 bottom teeth sticking out. There is no picture of said teeth because that has proved to be a very difficult task, but trust me....or let him bite you, either way works.

Lies, lies, lies

The biggest lies I tell myself....I don't need to write that down I'll remember and it should be fine without a bib...

We have playing outside as much as possible lately. Zach loves anything & everything outside. We just picked up a baby life jacket & are officially ready for summer....only another week of crazy work for me & Matt!

8 month pictures

At least this month we got a semi smile...the dog must have walked behind me or something.

What?  You say you don't want me to dive head first off the chair?

Little stinker

Mommy's round cheeks and daddy's blue eyes...and I'm not sure who taught him the fake cough which is used on a regular basis to get your attention.

8 Months Old!

Zach is 8 months old....and a few days...weeks...whatever...I did actually take pictures at 8 months and will post them as soon!

He is still wearing size 3 diapers and 6-9month clothes.

He doesn't have a doctor's appointment until next month so I'm not sure of the height and weight.  I tried briefly to get him to sit on the scale but that did not go so well, unless you consider him trying to lunge off the scale going well.

Little man loves to eat.  He will eat anything and everything.  He will of course make a face like you're torturing him that first bite, but then quickly open up for more and if you're not moving fast enough he will grunt and/or yell for more.

He eats #2 foods.  He will eat some puffs and num-num rice things, but he likes playing with them more then eating them.  He puts everything he can get his hands on in his mouth...except finger foods.

He is still taking 4 bottles at 6oz each.  He also has breakfast, 2oz of fruit and a few bites of prunes and a little cereal of some kind; dinner, 2oz of veggies and a few bites of prunes and maybe some cereal.  He has been not wanting formula at the normal 11am time and instead will have fruits or veggies and water.  He likes water and uses a sippy cup for it.

Why yes that is a lot of prunes....we have been having some tummy issues.  We cut out apples and added more prunes and more water and things are going a lot better.

He goes down between 7 and 8pm pretty easy still and sleeps until 6ish.  We did have our worst sleep night ever this past month.  We are very fortunate that Zach has always been a good night sleeper....until this last month.  We had our first all nighter right in the middle of greenhouse season and shut down.  He was getting up frequently as well for a few weeks, but we think it was because of his tummy issues.  Once we got those figured out he has been back to his normal sleepy self.

He loves to talk.  Mama (usually if he is hungry or sleepy), Dada (if he is happy and wants to play), we thought he said dog the other day but figured we were crazy, but my brother and sister in law babysat and they heard it too.  He loves to mimic noises, especially animal noises.  He likes pig, cat (which we taught him was a hiss as a joke based on our friends son and he picked it up before we realized), dog (again, not the normal noise of woof, but panting since our dog is big and lazy) and sheep.

He loves the dog.  He laughs and smiles for JJ way more then he does for us.  When he want to see JJ he'll pant like him.

He is scooting and pulling himself up.  I was freaking out about him not crawling yet and have since reversed my stance and would be ok waiting another 2 weeks or so until season is over ha!

He still loves outside.  He will be crabby as ever and if you take him for a walk outside it will be like a new child.

I feel like so much has happened this month!  He is just growing and comprehending more and more each day.  He watches everything like a hawk.

When I walk in the door from work and he smiles this huge smile and reaches for me it melts my heart.  On the flip side, when he cries when I leave it is heart breaking.  He will wave bye bye sometimes, but usually after the person is out the door...I guess he is making sure they really leave.

He loves peek a boo, bath time and his jumper.  He can no longer jump without making noise.

He also loves his wagon.  We strap him in and he will start squawking if you're not moving fast enough.

We could not love this little guy anymore then we do.  He fills our hearts with such joy.
